RE- IMAGINING & RE-DESIGNING PUBLIC LIFE
We are an artistic research and development outfit for the improvement of civil society and everyday life. The Design Studio for Social Intervention (DS4SI) partners with communities, artists, and social justice practitioners to imagine, demonstrate, and collectively rebuild places to be more just and vibrant.

Join us this fall as we celebrate 20 years of DS4SI
At DS4SI, we often begin with a question.
We use questions to challenge our assumptions about everyday life: What if the public was still a work in progress? We use questions to create portals as invitations into the imaginary.
So what better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary than to pose 20 Questions?
“20 Questions for 20 Years” will be a 4-week series of interventions, studies, and celebrations hosted by DS4SI as part of the Boston Public Art Triennial, from September 27th -October 19th.
Join our mailing list to keep up with our “20 Questions for 20 Years” programming.
“In this moment we must summon and celebrate all our not-knowing. We must imagine that we will discover and inhabit spaces that keep us all alive.”
OUR WORK
Situated at the intersections of design thinking and practice, social justice and activism, public art and social practice and civic / popular engagement, we design and test social interventions with and on behalf of marginalized populations, controversies and ways of life.
