During 2014-2015, the Fairmount Cultural Corridor supported the communities along the Fairmount Line in having their own community-based Artists in Residence. Led by DS4SI, the artists designed opportunities for residents, merchants and other local artists to come together to re-imagine public spaces, public forms of community expression and social interventions that increased vibrancy and community connectedness. They were also available as resources for residents and merchants who wanted to co-create transformative interventions for their communities. These Artists in Residence were visible and accessible to their communities, based out of a corner store, a school, a local arts organization, and a nonprofit that supported local merchants. Our Artist in Transit worked right out of the buses, trains and bus shelters.
